Flu Vaccine 2025

The flu vaccine is recommended for people at higher risk of getting seriously ill from flu.

It's offered on the NHS every year in autumn or early winter.

You can get the free NHS flu vaccine if you:

  • are aged 65 or over (including those who will be 65 by 31 March 2026)
  • have certain long-term health conditions
  • are pregnant
  • live in a care home
  • are the main carer for an older or disabled person, or receive a carer's allowance
  • live with someone who has a weakened immune system

Frontline health and social care workers can also get a flu vaccine through their employer.

Pharmacy First

Pharmacists can be a great first point of contact for many common health issues! Here's how they can help you:

  • Provide expert clinical advice on minor illnesses.
  • Recommend and supply over-the-counter medicines for conditions like:
    • Sinusitis (for adults and kids 12+)
    • Sore throat (adults and kids 5+)
    • Earache (kids and teens 1–17)
    • Infected insect bites (1+)
    • Impetigo (1+)
    • Shingles (adults 18+)
    • Urinary tract infections in women (16–64)

Plus, through the Pharmacy First scheme, pharmacists can actually consult with you and, if needed, supply antibiotics—so you might avoid the wait and hassle of visiting your GP for these issues.

It’s a convenient, quick way to get expert help for common illnesses.
